I have been out on the ice twice this year, and caught a couple small perch but was hoping for some crappies. Looking forward to the Jaycee's tournament and friends coming into town to fish and help out the charity. Will update this week on current bite around and on Gull Lake. Happy Holidays!

BRAINERD/NISSWA AREA
Walleyes continue to be caught on shiner minnows in 17 to 24 feet on Gull Lake, North Long Lake, and Round Lake. Crappies remain suspended over 17 to 25 feet on North Long and Round, while sunfish are biting in 8 to 12 feet on Cullen Lake, Nisswa Lake, and Roy Lake. Northern pike are hitting sucker minnows in 14 to 18 feet on Gull Lake, North Long, and Cullen. Most areas being fished now have 8 to 12 inches of ice – a bit more in some spots and a bit less in others.

CROSBY AREA
Most lakes have 10 to 12 inches of ice, but thinner spots still exist on some bigger lakes. Crappies are being caught on Nokay Lake in 21 to 30 feet during the evening hours, or Upper Dean Lake and Hay Lake in 17 to 22 feet. Walleyes are hitting on Rabbit Lake and Serpent Lake in 15 to 20 feet during low-light periods. The backwaters on the Mississippi River are producing sunfish, while northern pike are hitting sucker minnows on Serpent, Black Bear Lake, and Black Hoof Lake in 8 to 12 feet.
